Is witchcraft real? or is it just a belief?

please, no bible verses. i do not practice witchcraft, or wicca, or paganism. i am only curious as to whether it is real or not. as in when you cast a spell does it work? like, if you cast a spell for someone to fall in love, or to bring fortune onto someone, or misfortune, does that really happen to them? i've had friends who were wiccan, but i never asked these questions because i don't want them to feel uncomfortable, and religion isnt usually a topic i discuss because there are those people who throw bible verses at you, and think they have the power to tell you that you wil go to hell. so i'm asking for people not to throw those things at me for asking about witchcraft out of curiosity.
