Wicca? What to do with used Candle!?

Mum and I used sage to rid a spirit in my bedroom and mum walk around the house after me with a white candle and said a chant! What do you think I should do with the candle? If I use it again won't that have some form of backfire and maybe bring the spirit back? Is it wrong to throw it away or should I bury it deep in the backyard?
