Why do liberals think all terrorism is the same and the motivations of the individual or group dont matter?

For example: if you bring up islamic terrorism to a liberal they will immediately start argueing about so-called "christian terrorism" even though this is a meaningless term. As if a few lone nut abortion clinic bombers are the same as the maniacs that perpetrated 9-11.
