I am still confused has Obama ordered border agents to use less lethal devices before using deadly force?
At the center of the storm over use of force are two border patrol agents in west Texas who, served prison time for shooting and wounding a drug smuggler as he fled toward Mexico.Agents are now more likely to avoid situations in which they might have to use deadly force. "There's a very real fear about being arrested. A spike in assaults on agents along parts of the border has increased.Border agents report that the government isn't supportive of law-enforcement officers. The Border Patrol agent fatally shot a 15-year-old Mexican boy after a group trying to illegally enter Texas threw rocks at officers near downtown El Paso. The shooting, which happened beneath a railroad bridge linking the two nations, drew sharp criticism from Mexico, where the government said "the use of firearms to repel attacks with stones represents disproportionate use of force."During the assault at least one agent discharged his firearm," "The agent currently has been suspended without pay . A multi-agency investigation is currently ongoing."Mexico strongly condemns the US Border Patrol’s use of force. The U.S. Border Patrol plans to arm its agents with paintball guns and shoot the those who perpetrate assaults upon them.DHS reports paintball gun are less than lethal force and this increases law enforcement’s safety. Napolitano claims the border has never been safer. So why has Obama ordered border agents to use less lethal devices first before using deadly force ?
